SGA Sponsor Responsibilities

-Run SGA class level meetings at least once per month during designated activity period

-Class presidents need to create a PPT presentation to share with QR code/Forms link for attendance, class secretaries will record attendance and share data with SGA student body secretary for points maintenance

-At least one sponsor from each class will attend monthly executive board meetings (held after school in E106).

-Each sponsor will attend ONE CCASC (Charles County Association of Student Councils) meeting (held at Thomas Stone, quarterly, with classroom substitute provided); SGA advisors will attend MASC (Maryland Association of Student Councils) events. CCASC meetings run DURING the school day, and you will not have to use your own leave.

-At least one sponsor from each class will attend SGA-sponsored after-school events.

-Sponsors will maintain regular communication with their classes via email and/or Remind (or app approved by CCPS)

-Each class will complete at least one of the following during the school year:
-Organize and run a fundraiser (class level funds are used for hall
decorating supplies, banner creation, prom planning, door decorating, food etc)
-Organize a school-wide event or SGA-only event
-Organize and run a supply/donation drive to benefit a local charity/group
-Organize a service hour opportunity

-Classes will create a presentation for a school-level “leadership convention” which will take place in the spring during activity periods

-Each class will research, plan, and execute a green initiative which will be included on flyers in the school, where appropriate, and on the SGA website

HOCO events/point opportunities:

-HOCO banners: Each class will decorate a banner (rules to follow) to carry at the football game. Class sponsors will need to organize banner-making sessions after school in the weeks leading up. Maintain accurate attendance records for students helping (they get 1 point per half hour!)

-Hall Decorating (At least one sponsor needs to be present with the class; you may wish to request supplies from students, for points) and organize after-school planning days in the week prior)

-Friday after school: Decorate the gym for homecoming dance (sponsors’ assistance GREATLY appreciated)
-Friday evening: Football game
-Saturday evening: HOCO dance 7-10 pm in the gym. Sponsors are needed to chaperone.
-Homecoming ticket sales…TBD. May require sponsors’ assistance.
